Five Must-See Movies I Still Haven’t Seen
The most amusing part of any conversation with me, the guy who runs a site about pop culture, is the part where you learn that I haven’t seen a movie that you (and, usually, many others) consider must-see.
Here’s a list of five flicks that, when I admit I haven’t seen them, elicit very bewildered looks indeed.
1.The Princess Bride
Yes, I lived through the 1980s and never saw it. And yes, you heard me right: it is my unholy quest to be the one person on the planet who never sees it.
2. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Yes, I’m a Gen Xer who has never seen Tim Burton’s classic. Like so many flicks of the late 80s and early 90s, this one seemed like it would ever be my brother’s movie, so I stayed away from it. We had this thing about me stealing things that were his, and I got to be really sensitive about not doing that anymore.
Sure, it’s got Harrison Ford. But it’s not Indy or Star Wars (or The Fugitive). So, really, what’s the point?
There was something about Brad Pitt back in the day that made me avoid his movies like the plague—maybe it was all the girls in high school fawning all over him, I’m not sure. Anyway, I’m over that now, and this one will be off the list within the next week or two.
5. Donnie Darko
Another unintentional one. And, really, no one’s ever given me shit about this one, but I needed a number five, and it seemed like someone would give me some shit if I included it.
Amazed? Amused? Absolutely flabbergasted? Well, hey, what about you? What are some of the flicks you are supposed to have seen, but haven’t yet?
