Ben vs. Hurley: Two New Series from J.J. Abrams Star LOST Veterans
A week or so ago, Bryan White from Cinema Suicide and I were Tweeting back and forth about the fact that Lost co-creator and executive producer J.J. Abrams had not one, but two new TV shows coming out this fall. Unbeknownst to me until Bryan pointed it out, both of them will star Lost veterans. And that begs the question for those of us who have been looking for something to replace Lost in our geeky little hearts since it went off the air: which show do we want to see more?
Person of Interest features Michael “Benjamin Linus” Emerson alongside James Caviezel from The Passion of the Christ, with scripts by Jonathan Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight):
Alcatraz features Jorge “Hurley” Garcia and Sam Neill from Jurassic Park, and if you couldn’t guess from the title, it’s at least partially set, like Lost, on an island:
My gut reaction, despite the fact that I haven’t ever in my adult life — ever — regularly watched a show on CBS, is that Person of Interest looks like the safer bet. I love that it has Nolan on board, which creates a new dynamic with a familiar face, which is kind of what I’m looking for in a TV show right now, rather than an old dynamic — an island, time travel, mystery — with an familiar face playing a role very similar to the one I fell in love with him in.
What do you think? Do you have a favorite, are you interested in both equally, or will you be staying away from both of them entirely?
