J.K. Rowling Announces Pottermore
A new interactive experience for Harry Potter geeks, Pottermore will feature extra information on the world, electronic and audio versions of the books, and more. It doesn’t open until October, but between Rowling’s YouTube announcement and the dish found on Mugglenet and Hero Complex, this much is clear:
- The entire Harry Potter series will be available as eBooks for the first time.
- There will be information (in the form of an online encyclopedia?) about the world of Harry Potter that Rowling has been “hoarding for years.”
- There will be new illustrations.
- Interactivity will be a huge part of the experience, with users having the option to get sorted into a Hogwarts house as well as picking one of 33,000 different wand combinations.
According to Hero Complex, registration will begin on July 31, 2011, Harry Potter’s birthday, and an online challenge will be used to grant early entry to the first million users.
