Five GeekOut-Worthy Stills from the HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART TWO Trailer
The trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 arrived online last night, and we’ve been watching it ever since. There is so much to love here that it’s hard to know where to begin. But, this being Geek Force Five, we thought picking the five most GeekOut-worthy stills might work.
1. The Prince’s Tale, Part One
We’re big Alan Rickman fans, and we don’t think he’s gotten nearly enough room throughout the film series to really stretch his wings. He’s had his moments, sure, but Snape has always gotten the short end of the story stick in the movies. But, no more! It’s obvious from this trailer that we’re going to get a good dose of one of our favorite chapters from the book, “The Prince’s Tale.”
2. The Prince’s Tale, Part Two
The imagery here is gorgeous. We won’t spoil for you what’s happening here, but let’s just say that it’s exactly the sort of thing we had in mind when we were reading about a family wherein one sister is a witch and the other is not.
3. Bad-Ass Harry
We admit that, in the trailer for both films that preceded the release of Part One, we got a little nervous about how much the filmmakers were deviating from the storyline of the climactic final battle. Sure, we expected them to make the ending more Hollywood, but the amount of Hollywood we were seeing in that early trailer was a bit much.
We’ve come around, though. Watching Harry, with this expression on his face, say, “C’mon, Tom. Let’s finish this the way we started it — together!” just before grabbing good ol’ Voldy and jumping off into the abyss — well, that had us cheering, “Yes!” Seeing Harry get to be a bad-ass finally, after all the running of the past few films (and the first part of Deathly Hallows in particular) is exactly what we were looking for.
4. Bad-Ass Molly
One of the parts of the novel that had us cheering the loudest when we read it back in the day was the moment where Mrs. Weasley gets to have herself an honest-to-goodness wand battle. Though we won’t be completely satisfied until we hear her say, “Not my daughter, you bitch!” seeing a bit of this fight in the trailer has us cheering again.
5. Ginny Doing Something
Every time we see this image in a trailer, we wonder exactly what’s going on, but we’re entranced nonetheless. Ginny gets a few choice moments in the finale of the book, and we love this moment on film regardless of which of those moments in the novel it is meant to capture.
What about you? What did you love most about this trailer?
