Oscars 2009 - Best Picture

We conclude Oscar Week here on Geek Force Five with a look at the nominees for Best Picture. Of course, the film that should win—The Dark Knight—isn’t even nominated, so I’m already entering into this preview of the nominees with a bitter taste in my mouth. But I’ll do my best to type them all in without a snide remark, and then to leave you all to chime in with your thoughts.

  1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  2. Frost/Nixon
  3. Milk
  4. The Reader
  5. Slumdog Millionaire

For Nate Silver and just about everyone else in the world, the pick is Slumdog. I haven’t seen it, so I can’t poop on it Triumph-style like I would like to, but I am curious about whether any of you would like to poop on it, or, alternately, to tell me that it is the best film since Sliced Bread (ever see that one?).

And, hey, while you’re at it, let me know if you think the exclusion of The Dark Knight was a major snub, or if there were any other films you saw this year that you’d rather see on this list.
