Pepsi Throwback = Good

I’m drinking a bottle of Pepsi-Cola Throwback at the moment, and I’m having a total flashback. This trip I’m on probably has a lot to do with the food I decided to pair with my Throwback—a four-pack of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups—but I think there’s something more going on. Sure, I’m not old enough to have sipped sugar-sweetened Pepsi back in its heyday, but there is something about the taste of Throwback that reminds me of summer afternoons at Camp Wah-Tut-Ca, hot afternoons when a trip to the snack bar for a Dixie Cup of soda and a refrigerated pack of Reese’s was what made my day.

What is Pepsi thinking in making this Throwback experiment only temporary? This needs to be made permanent. Hell, we all know that high-fructose corn syrup is bad for us. Why can’t we get all the soda manufacturers on board with going back to sugar? Minor players like Jones already sweeten with sugar. Why won’t Pepsi and Coke do the same?
