Anything Blows

The following reflection was written in 2003, when I was between 25 and 26 years old.

The Bradford College Spring Musical in 1998 was Anything Goes, but with the quality of the production they turned in that year, it might as well have been called Anything Blows, because out of the four musicals I saw in my time at Bradford, that one was the absolute worst.

I think it failed so miserably in my mind because it hadn’t been long since we’d seen almost all of the same performers in senior Heather Darrow’s senior project, which was so much better put together and had so much more passion to it that almost any performance would have paled in comparison.

I do remember we went as a big group to the performance and while everyone else kind of liked it, I think Stef and I were both, as the artists of the group, really left wondering what the hell we’d just seen.

Maybe I’m alone in my remembering that the show stunk, but well, this is my journal so fuck anyone who disagrees with me. That’s just the way it was. The show blew.
