I managed to accomplish a helluva lot of the goals I set for myself this weekend. I got a lot of reading done. I got CDs purchased to replace the tapes that I’d thrown out. I hung out with my brother. I even got this website moved over to a new server, got the Archives pages up-to-date, and managed to find time to write my entries. Something I didn’t get to do, something truly insignificant and inconsequential, was look into a question that I’d been thinking about for the first couple days of the year. Maybe you can help.
The image that appears immediately below this paragraph is the front-page of a Page-A-Day calendar that I have on my desk at work. I can’t figure out who all of the people are. Some of them are obvious but the identity of the blonde in the green dress, right above Dubya, and the identity of the woman up in the corner next to Bob Dole are driving me nuts.
If anyone can help me figure out the identities of those two and of any of the others in the image that would be most appreciated. I did a lot of reading today and my brain hurts.
The reading I’ve been doing is the reading of my fellow students’ manuscripts for the upcoming residency. Some of them are good, some of them are kinda not good, and they are all long. I find myself putting ten times more effort into the critiquing of them this time. I’m not sure why that is. But, whatever the case, I am using my pen a lot more and I am not afraid to be very blunt about what I think is working and what I think is not working. We’ll see how that goes over.
Other than reading I did take a couple of breaks to watch football today but never for very long. I’m a little tired and now I think I’m going to go to bed.
