April Foolishness

So, my little e-mail this morning (see yesterday’s entry if you don’t know what I’m talking about) was a simple “Thanks, Chris.” That was a good start to the day. The day at work, though, actually got even better than that. A lot of loose ends came together and at the close of business I had more deliverables to report on than I’ve had in quite some time. I just hope they realize that I was lucky today that outside forces decided to cooperate for once. I hope they realize that and don’t expect this kind of end of the day report every day.

Work on the novel progressed nicely again this morning, though I’m still not making that much progress in terms of page count. I’m also not sure where this prologue that I’m writing is going to end. I know I need to get started on the story proper, but this opening scene has so much potential to show us so much about these characters.

I worry that I don’t yet have the pacing down for a novel. I’m too used to writing short stories and trying to cram so much into so little. I worry that I’m trying to get too much mileage out of so few pages.

Anyway, I have till the fifteenth to produce twenty-five pages and I’m on page nine already. So, I shouldn’t worry too much.
