There is something wrong with me when I read. I can’t stop myself from falling asleep, even when the text is interesting. Sometimes I think I’ve pegged a reason for this. On occasion, I’ve found it easier to stay awake while reading text in larger print. Stef wondered today if it wasn’t related to the same problem that makes it hard for me to stay awake while driving in certain situations. Maybe I do need to get my eyes checked, but I’m not sure. I’m not sure if that would really solve anything.
The immediate issue this is raising is that I’m not getting anywhere in my reading. Today, when I actually had the initiative to pick up my book, I ended up passing out on the couch after about three pages. When I grew agitated with myself after a little off and on napping there, I got up, gave up, and went to bed. I think my nap ended up lasting at least three hours or so and I got almost no reading done as a result. With the amount of texts I have left to finish before the residency begins at the end of the month, this is not good.
So, I have to figure something out. A better chair to read in, perhaps? Reading more in the morning when I first get up, when I still have energy? Reading in the heavy traffic in the center of Lowell after work when I move maybe two feet every ten minutes? Something has to give. I need to get some more reading done soon.
I know that stress is playing a factor in all of this but I really need to maximize the few moments of inspiration I get. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
