Paint On My Feet

We did more painting today and with buckets of help we were able to make huge progress. We got the main color on all of the walls downstairs and we primed the hallway leading upstairs and the den that’s up there. Earlier on this week, I thought maybe we’d be able to get the whole thing painted in two days. Once we got started yesterday, I adjusted my expectations. And now, I think we’ve done more than I thought we could do.

Mom, Dad, Anisa, and Bill were all there, with Grandma supervising. Everyone sort of picked a role and got to it. Aside from an aggravating field trip for me to pick up more roll covers for our paint rollers, everything seemed to go swimmingly. It was great to have Bill there especially, who with all his professional painting gear was able to get done the very high walls of the hallway leading upstairs.

So, now that we’ve got that painted, we have to figure out the rest of the week. We still want to try and move in this coming weekend. We’ll try to get all of our new furniture delivered on Saturday and then move all of our existing stuff on Sunday. We’ll leave the hallway upstairs primed but unfinished until Bill can come back with the tools to do it right. The added bonus of doing it that way is that if we scuff anything while moving up the stairs, it’ll only be the primer.

I think tomorrow we’ll go up and try to paint the den and the molding throughout the house. Tuesday we’ll finally buy all of our furniture.  Wednesday, maybe, we’ll take a day to stay home and pack and/or study. Thursday, who knows. Friday, more packing.

Somewhere in there, I’m going to try and find time to work with JonMartin on our script. And then I’m going to figure out how to reconnect with everyone else that I haven’t seen in a while. There will be a housewarming party at some point, but I don’t want to wait that long to begin repairing all these friendships that have been strained by stress and neglect.
