1985

Today I discovered the song "1985" by Bowling for Soup and if you haven’t heard it, you should hear it right now. It’s available on iTunes. You can watch the video on their website. I simply cannot recommend this song strongly enough. I’m even using adverbs with abandon. I mean, you have to appreciate a song that poses the question, "When did Motley Crue become classic rock?"

Anyway, that was my major discovery of the day, that and the fact that if I ever made a movie out of my novel I would cast an actual adult film actress in one of the lead roles. That’s because one of the lead roles is a girl who runs off and takes up that profession and I would actually want someone to play that role who had been there and done that.

I’m kind of annoyed that I keep coming up with ideas for this novel as if it were a film. I envision what the soundtrack would be. I imagine who I might cast in it, what different shots might look like. It’s awful. None of that is going to translate onto the page. Still, I guess it’s good that I’m thinking about the novel at all.

I haven’t gotten any writing done this week. I’ve been trying to get up on time, but it just hasn’t been happening. By the time I get up, it’s time for breakfast and then reading. My writing time has already wasted away.

Oh well. I did get some major work done on my resume today and I’m pretty happy with where it’s going. I think if I read it as a hiring manager, I might actually be tempted to give me an interview.
