Jumping the Shark

On Tuesday night, Stephanie and I watched back-to-back episodes of the new Project Greenlight. My immediate reaction was one of disgust. Year after year, these people have picked the most incompetent individuals, as if their goal is to produce great television at the expense of a great movie. They may think it’s funny, but I don’t. There are thousands of us out here, maybe millions, who would kill for a shot like the one these folks are getting, who have some actual talent and some measure of common sense. It burns me up that they continue to work with total idiots. It’s as if Ben and Matt, like all true Massholes, want to see the thing fail.

After Project Greenlight, we watched the new episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and I was equally disgusted. Sometime in the last few months, while I haven’t been watching it, the show has definitely “jumped the shark.” They’re doing overly-sentimental episodes with military men now? And next week they’re doing three shows from fucking Texas? I don’t know about all this.

The realization I came to is that I should probably just watch less television. I’m not watching much television to begin with, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I still have no answer as to the whereabouts of my thesis. It could’ve bounced back to Vermont because of a lack of postage. It could be sitting in one of those damn lockers up by our mailboxes. It could be anywhere. Meanwhile, my time to revise the damn thing is quickly slipping away.

I am not a happy camper.
