Lemon Squares and The Truman Show
I ended my evening with the last of the lemon squares that Tori sent us home with on Saturday and I found myself wishing I’d taken a lot more of those amazingly tasty little treats. Stef and I were watching The Truman Show, one of my favorite films of all time, and one that I don’t yet own on DVD, and my comments during the viewing basically consisted of, “Why don’t we own this?” It had been a long day and finishing it off with a good movie and a good dessert was quite nice.
Because Stephanie had been feeling so queasy this morning, I ended up doing almost all of our chores myself today. I did the groceries and the laundry. I grabbed us lunch and I did the grocery shopping. And in between I managed to find time to write and time to watch the Red Sox game. I haven’t had such a productive Sunday in a long, long time. It was a good feeling.
The story I’ve been working on is coming along nicely. It’s already running a bit longer than I’d hoped for, this being the fifth draft, but I don’t think there will be all that much work to do after this draft in any case. It’ll just be the cutting down of it, as far as I’m concerned. After all, there’s only so much time and energy you can devote to a story before you’ve beaten it like a dead cliche… I mean, horse. Like a dead horse.
Time for bed now, though. No more time to talk. Another week awaits me on the flipside and I’m hoping I might start this one off well-rested. A novel idea, to be sure, but a good one.
