Design and Fenway Park
Jason Kottke is in Boston covering the AIGA Design Conference 2005 and got the chance to attend a pre-conference event on “experience design” at Fenway Park. His write-up is available here. Here’s an excerpt:
Janet also referred to the “accidental” design of the park. Like many other urban ballparks built in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, the placement of the streets constrained the design of Fenway and made it rather an odd shape….these days larger plots are selected where those types of restraints are removed.
It’s an interesting take on a landmark that many of us know and love and I think you should read it.
