Three Bathrooms to None

We had a relaxing day on Saturday, followed by a tense evening drive down to Leominster to check out the new digs of a college friend of ours, followed by another tense drive home, followed by the discovery, in the middle of the night, that the ceiling in our master bathroom had sprung a leak. The character of the day, from the relaxing morning to the tense driving, to the discovery of the drip, drip, drip of our ceiling, was influenced immeasurably by the continuous downpour of rain that, on any other day, would have been a welcome predicament in my mind.

The fact that we started out with three bathrooms in this house and that there is now not one of them in perfect working order just boggles my mind. Our downstairs bathroom has a problem with the chain/drain/bowl mechanism, so it often won’t stop trying to refill itself without intervention. Our hallway bathroom upstairs has a similar problem, except that, upon every flush, it’s refilling mechanism spurts water up over the edge of the tank through a small crack in the porcelain, subsequently dripping down the back of the toilet and onto the floor. And now, there’s a leak in the ceiling right above the toilet in our master bathroom. It’s coming right out of the ventilation system and the water stain is spreading outward from the frame of the celing fan.

I’m not nearly as stressed out about it as I may sound. I’m just sort of at a loss about what to do. As we live in a condo/townhouse development, we’re not responsible for the roof and exterior of the place. But what do you do when a problem with the roof ends up causing a problem on the inside of the house, which we are responsible for? I don’t know. Soon, I guess, I’ll have to find out.

But it was an otherwise good day. I did some writing after we came back from our friend’s house. Earlier in the day, I got the play more of The Sims 2 Nightlife and I got to read more of my Ultimate Spider-Man collection. Nothing much to complain about really.
