Fun With Ear Wax Removal

As a kid, I had huge problem with ear wax. I can recall several visits to the doctor which involved the placement of a metal dish/bowl under my ear and the pumping, via syringe, of warm water into my ear canal. It was always great to be able to hear again after these visits, and the size of the stuff that came out of my ears was always interesting to see, but I always reeked of ear wax for days afterward, regardless of how many showers I took.

Anyway, this story, from CMAJ, Canada’s leading medical journal, makes the whole procedure sound like a lot more fun. Of course, it does involve a Super Soaker, so that might be why.
