What Ever Happened To The Electric Car?

Apple.com recently posted a trailer for the upcoming documentary film, Who Killed The Electric Car? and I think that this is definitely a film worth checking out. In a world where all I can hope for is to spend less than forty bucks on gas per week, I can’t help but wonder what happened to the electric car. When I was commuting into Boston in the late nineties and the early part of this decade, I remember there being whole rows of chargers for electric cars at the Alewife parking garage. They’re all gone now (or at least I haven’t noticed them). You watch this trailer and you just have to wonder why.

“The electric vehicle is not for everybody,” Ed Begley, Jr. deadpans in the trailer. “It can only meet the needs of ninety percent of the population.”

(For those of you without Quicktime, the official site for the film appears to offer an alternative method of viewing the trailer.)
