Kitty Pryde is Pregnant?!? Was it Colossus or Spider-Man?

The only film that I’ve seen Ellen Page in is X-Men: The Last Stand, which holds a special place in my heart no matter what the rest of geekdom thinks about it. The trailer for Hard Candy scared the crap out of me, but I never saw it. And the trailer for Page’s new film had me roaring with laughter—Rainn Wilson’s delivery of the line “That ain’t no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can’t be undid, home-skillet.” seems like it would be worth the price of admission alone—but I’m not sure that I’ll see Juno either. I love the wit of screenwriter Diablo Cody—her book Candy Girl was one of the best books I’ve read for research on my novel—but I just don’t see a place in our busy December where Stephanie and I actually end up with time to see a movie. We’ll see, though.

Oh, and the comic book reference in the title of this post? Well, that’s a reference to the fact that Page’s character in Juno is pregnant, and also to the fact that Page played Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand, and finally to the fact that, in the Marvel comic books that the X-Men films are based on, Kitty Pryde hooks up both with Colossus (in the mainstream Marvel Universe) and Spider-Man (in the Ultimate Marvel Universe) at different points in her life.

Yes, I am a dork.
